Usefulness of Car Hoist

Cars have become a very important part of human life. It is just hard to imagine how the world would be today if cars were not invented, and nowadays they are not just considered as means of transportation but as valued assets as well. Such is why people exert all efforts they can to keep their vehicles running well.

Responsible owners get car insurance to make sure that if untoward incidents happen, they would be able to have it fixed. Owners also take them regularly to the garage to have them checked up once in a while. However, some people are really not lucky. No matter how hard they try to maintain and keep it in condition, their autos seem to always break down or fail on them. If you are one of these owners whose unit seem to always get problems, and you often need to check what is wrong, then you would need a car hoist to help you make this job easier.

Cars are very heavy objects. The world’s lightest one ever built weighed only 21 pounds, but if you are the average owner, chances are your unit weighs several times more than that. The usual sedan could weigh from 3000 to 5000 lbs, and your auto most probably falls within this range.

Now, that is rather too heavy for you to lift unless you’re Superman or the Incredible Hulk. But since your chance of having been born in Krypton or being mutated by radioactive materials is very slim, you most probably do not have that strength. Now you have to face the reality that you cannot lift your unit. However, you might still have to look under it whenever you encounter problems to see what is going on. And for this, you would need a car hoist, which is another great human invention. Without a hoist it would be virtually impossible for you to lift your vehicle.

You might say that you do not need a car hoist because you already have a car jack. But a car jack is quite different from a hoist. Indeed it is true that a jack can lift your unit. But the lifting power of them is very limited. At the most, your trusty old jack can only lift one corner or one side of your car. Well, that is indeed useful when you need to change one tire, whenever one blows or one wears out. But that’s just about it.

Would your jack be able to lift your entire car, with all its four wheels off the ground? Absolutely not. What if you need to go under the car to see what lies beneath? You wouldn’t be able to do this with just a jack. What would you do if your car suddenly gets off the jack? The jack just lifts the car to an unstable and awkward position, there is a great danger that your car might fall while you are looking underneath and you are just using a jack.

Using four jacks is not a good idea either. Not only is it bulky to keep four jacks, it would also be much more inconvenient for you to pump them four times just to keep all the four corners of your auto lifted. You would also experience another round of inconvenience when you let the jacks down. Most importantly, four jacks would mean four unstable points of elevation for your car. That could spell disaster when you would have to go underneath of the unit, even more potential disaster than you would have with just one jack in place. To lift your car high and stable enough for you to get under, you would really need a car hoist.

A car hoist is indeed a useful tool if you need to keep on checking underneath your car for one reason or another. It can even be a great investment for you. Who knows, you could be opening your own garage soon after years of experience fixing your auto unit. Having a car hoist could indeed be a beneficial decision for you.
