Drafting a Janitorial Service Contract

It is mandatory in many states that the employer provide their employees a hygienic environment in which to work but this is a challenging task for a business to do without outside help. This help would come from professional janitorial services. These services are usually hired on a contract basis and their services are in high demand. Before the janitorial service company can begin to keep the workplace clean, they will make a contract and send it to the potential business to sign if they agree with the conditions and terms. To help make sure that the contract is favorable to the potential business but does not cause a financial loss to the cleaning services it has to be well drafted. There are a few important to consider before drafting the contract. Most contracts are for a month so you need to consider a month’s worth of expenses when you draft the contract before you present it to the contract

Cost of labor

This is an important consideration because janitorial services usually consist of several employees that will do the work and have to be paid for their work. You will need to consider how many employees will do the job, how many hours they will work cleaning the business, and how many days a week they will clean the business.

Supplies and Equipment

You also need to consider any equipment, cleaning products, and tools that you will use on the job. You also need to consider if you have to rent any special equipment for your new client, how long you will need to rent it, and the cost. For the supplies you need to have an estimate of how much the supplies would cost for the job for a month.

Transportation fees

If the employees drive a company van or car you need to consider the miles driven round trip and the cost of the gas as this is an expense your janitorial service will have to pay for.

After you have all of these figured out you are ready to draft your janitorial service contract. In addition to the above costs, you also need to mention the following.

Services provided

On the janitorial service contract, you need to list the services that you will provide and how often you will provide these services. Such as, will your cleaning services clean the business every night, will they only clean the business a certain number of nights, if there are special jobs that are done once a month, etc.

On the contract, you should list them such as cost of labor, which you should just list how much it will cost per month but not what each employee is paid.
